The ISO 9001 management standard ensures a discipline is enforced in the Company so that everyone is working to a common goal and pulling in the same direction. With set procedures that can be amended as incidents happen the Company is capturing hard won experience that is recorded for future use. Therefore, the Company is steadily improving, reducing costs and decreasing the number of customer complaints which improves customer loyalty. Management benefit by having to spend time on ‘fire fighting’ problems and staff loyalty is improved as the management are seen to be ‘in control’. By streamlining the work methods and encouraging staff to contribute to continual improvement costs are reduced all round. Do not think of ISO 9001 as a cost headache, it is an overall cost saver.
