The wise dig their wells before the drought and build their arks before the next flood.
In the world of careers, 'wells' and 'arks' translate as 'divisional closure', 'company bankruptcy', 'takeover bids', 'company sale', 'redundancy', 'irrational board decisions', 'key personnel resignations' or even 'market collapse'.
But what do most of us do when these events overtake us? We either to ignore it, "I can't do anything about it and it wasn't my fault, so if I do nothing it might go away!" or we panic, "I don't know what to do!"
Obviously the best option is to be prepared for such events before they occur. At Proteus we believe it is never too late to “Future Proof Your Career”, but it’s obvious that it's better to do it sooner rather than later.
If you are well prepared you won't panic, you'll just calmly start to implement your plan. Why do people buy umbrellas? Because they know it will rain at some time in the future!
